Vranjska Banja is the spa with the warmest mineral water in Europe. The water reaches a temperature from 94° up to 111°C, with the capacity of 140 litres per second. That water comes to the surface from about ten springs.
“The Special Hospital for Rehabilitation Millennium Medical Centar, Vranjska Banja” is a specialized medical institution that has been a pillar of the entire locale’s development and is replete with options and capacities worthy of the world’s most renowned spas.
Today in the building of the Special Hospital for Rehabilitation there are two bath tubs, which carry the names of the members of the royal families who used to stay here – King Petar’s Bathtub and Queen Draga’s Bathtub.
About Vranjska Banja
Vranjska Banja is located in the south of Serbia, twelve kilometres southeast from Vranje and is located at the height of 400 meters. This is the reason why Vranjska Banja is one of the rare Royal Spas in Serbia, and it is a member of the Association of Royal Spas of Serbia as well as of the Association of Royal Spas of Europe.
There are archaeological records that the water in the spa was used for healing in ancient times. Mineral water springs in Vranjska Banja were used for healing in the Middle Ages as well as during the Ottoman rule. After liberation from the Ottomans, Vranjska Banja became a spa and tourist centre.
The importance of this water is in its extraordinary healing properties (mineral, slightly alkaline, water rich in sulphur). It successfully helps in the treatment of all forms of rheumatism, neurological diseases, and post-traumatic conditions, diseases of digestive organs, gynaecological and skin diseases.

Therapeutic indications
The greatest healing value of water is represented by the dissolved healing hydrogen sulphide gas in the amount of 1.9 mg/l, which is almost twice as much as the sufficient amount of 1 mg/l for the water to have a healing effect.
